Bell Confirms Mars Movie Still Not Happening
Kristen Bell is adorable, that's for sure.

We had a short 'n' sweet catch-up sesh with her after she and Robert Verdi gave a trio of ladies makeovers on behalf of Marshalls and Dress for Success' Unlock the Shopportunity campaign. Needless to say, we were happy to hear her thoughts on female empowerment, but we made sure to try and press her on the bigger issues—you know, the Veronica Mars movie, Party Down, Heroes, Parenthood and a particular star of that last show (fiancé Dax Shepard, duh!).

She might be cute, but she's also coy…

While wedding questions were out of the question, we did our best to squeeze from her what we could.

Any news on the Veronica Mars movie? Is it ever gonna happen, and are you still game?
I wish I had news. Still in the process of campaigning to tell Warner Bros. that people would actually see it. I think that as long as you guys keep asking those questions and I keep answering them, Warner Bros. will one day get the picture that everybody does want it and that it will make its money back. I think, truthfully, they're a company and they want to know that they'll make their return back. We just have to convince them that they will.

We know you're coming back on Party Down. Any idea what you'll be doing?
I do know, because I already shot it. It's a lot of fun. I play a very bitchy character, which is so much fun to play opposite Adam Scott, who's obviously amazing. I kind of wreak havoc on that set, which is how I like to do it.

Any word from your Heroes buddies on if it will get picked up?
I haven't heard from any of them. I hope it does. I haven't heard. I wish I had inside info for you!

It's cool. So might we see you stop by Parenthood next season?
I don't know. I'm gonna wait for the phone call.

Dress for Success is about helping ladies feel confident. What do you feel most confident wearing?
Truthfully, sweats and a wife-beater, but that's just because that's usually when I'm home, and I feel very empowered when I'm domesticated. But I also feel empowered when I'm on the red carpet and comfortable. I have a very lucky profession that I get to work with people that have amazing fashion backgrounds, and I get help all the time. That's kind of why I think it's so important—because I know how that makes me feel—to share with other women, because it really can change you from your darkest day to your happiest day when you put something on and you feel confident. It changes your whole attitude.

Kristen Preparing To Start Family
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard just got engaged, but they’re not letting that stop them from preparing to start a family.

They recently hired interior designer Kari Whitman to redecorate their home, including turning one bedroom into a nursery.

A friend of Kristen says:

“She’s planning ahead a bit. But it won’t be long. They talk about starting a family all the time.”

Lowell Exits Private Practice
Sources close to Private Practice tell Zap2it that Chris Lowell will not be returning to the show for Season 4.

Lowell's episode order for Season 3 was cut back from 22 to a minimum of 13 episodes, though he did remain a series regular. Because his appearances on the show have been intermittent at best, it's not surprising to learn that he's being phased out for a more permanent absence. Lowell "will be leaving the show after Season 3 and has no plans to return for Season 4," sources say.

ABC reps couldn't be reached for comment Sunday (May 2).

According to the source, Lowell is not unhappy with the decision. Being released from his Private Practice contract means Lowell is free to relocate to New York City and pursue other projects.

He's not the only regular cast member searching for an exit sign. "A couple of cast members are looking to get out of their contracts," says the source, citing Audra McDonald as an example. "They aren't happy on the show." We may have another "Grey's Anatomy" on our hands.

There's no word on the circumstances of Dell's departure from Oceanside Wellness, but sources confirm that a "favorite character will die in the season finale." Could the "Private Practice" team really kill off Dell?

Gallner Talks Elm Street
There’s something about Kyle Gallner that does “tortured” so well. Whether he’s exacting torment on his classmates in Veronica Mars or suffering at the hands of evil in Jennifer’s Body and A Haunting in Connecticut, the 23-year-old actor isn’t afraid to let fear and ferocity flicker across his baby face, and it’s a trait that serves him well as Quentin, the high-schooler who bears the brunt of Freddy Krueger’s wrath in the new remake of Nightmare on Elm Street.

This week, Movieline spoke to Gallner about two intriguing indies he has coming up (Goodnight Moon and Beautiful Boy) and the most horrifying part of his Elm Street experience: acting in the near-nude for days on end.

All right, so: Nightmare on Elm Street. At what point did it sink in for you, “Oh, I’m playing a high school swimmer, and I have to do my character’s centerpiece dream sequence in a Speedo?”
[Laughs] When I read the script. I was like, “Oh Jesus. They will have the palest person in the world in a Speedo, with a color scheme that does not help out.”

It’s not the most flattering film anyway. All the actors have to look kind of tired and sleep-deprived throughout.
Yeah, but it’s kind of painful when you’re sitting there in a Speedo and there’s no way to heat up the water, so they’re dumping cold water on you and it’s 40 degrees and you’re in the middle of a dynamited-out steel factory, walking on shrapnel for nine hours.

Yeah, that doesn’t sound enticing. You know, the casting call said, “Think Johnny Depp” for your character. Did you think Johnny Depp, or did you want it to be as far from that as possible?
It’s a hard thing, because the character and plotline and the arc my character has isn’t really the same as Johnny Depp in the original movie. There’s also that factor of seeing who Johnny Depp is now…it’s kind of like, oh please don’t compare me! I’m far too young and not in the same place in my career. It’s kind of scary to see your name next to his. It’s kind of a weird thing. The script is different and the story is different, so to kind of replicate what they did just wouldn’t work for the movie. Not that the movie went so far out of the way from the original, but it’s different in a lot of ways from the first one. We had to come up with our own take on it and create these characters ourselves.

That casting call also hinted at elements of your character that we don’t see, like he runs a school podcast. Did that get deleted?
That was kind of in the original script, and then through rewrites, things changed. Some stuff was gotten rid of, like the podcast thing.

But the Speedo thing stayed in.
The Speedo thing stayed in. I was like, “No, really guys.” [Laughs]

Samuel Bayer’s been directing music videos for almost two decades. How did he direct you differently in Elm Street than someone who’s spent their life in features?
This movie is very visual in that you have to create two different landscapes between the dream world and the real world, and you have to show the transitions between both. Sam is very good with the visual aspect of making everything feel real and look pretty amazing. At the end of the day, he’s a director who can work with actors, but I’ve never really had a director on such a big-budget film that also had to worry so heavily about visualization. The movies that I’m used to are kind of more character-driven, so it was kind of weird to learn a whole new skill set and see Sam work. I’d never seen anything like that.

Kristen's No Bridezilla
Kristen Bell told Red Carpet Report that she hasn’t made any wedding plans. At the Chanel Tribeca Film Festival Dinner in NYC on April 28th, Kristen confessed to reporters that she hasn’t picked out a dress, a cake, or anything at all.

Kristen seems cool and low maintenance to us. Dax Shephard, you are a lucky man.
