Amanda Seyfried's Dear John has snatched the number one spot at the box office away from Golden Globe winning film Avatar. The low budget romantic drama which also stars Channing Tatum took $32.4 in its opening weekend.

But few predicted that Dear John would cause a stampede to movie theaters by young women. Moreover, the hardy demographic appeared to ignore the blizzard that shut down a large swathe of the mid-Atlantic region.

"When they come out, young women come out in droves," said Geoffrey Ammer, president of worldwide marketing at the film's closely held financier Relativity Media.

He said the first wave of moviegoers texted and Tweeted their friends during the screenings to deliver their favorable verdicts, triggering further waves.

Kristen Bell reportedly wants to start a family.

The actress - who confirmed her engagement to Dax Shepard earlier this week - is looking to have children shortly after the pair are married, Showbiz Spy reports

"Kristen is feeling really broody right now," an insider revealed.

"She keeps on at Dax about starting a family. They've agreed to wait until after they get wed."

The 29-year-old recently declared that her love life will always take priority over her acting career.

Kristen Bell dropped by the Rachael Ray show and chatted a little about her “pretty” ‘When In Rome‘ co-star, Josh Duhamel.

Kristen Bell: First of all, he is beautiful. At first when they hired him, I was like you can’t hire a guy that’s prettier than me. I’m a girl! He is so down to earth and so fun. He’s like a permanent fifteen year old boy, he loves to be goofy. But he says hello and goodnight to everyone. He’s just a gentleman.

She had equally great things to say about Josh’s wife, Fergie:

Kristen Bell:She’s so cool. She’s the embodiment of cool. She is that, what you see. She’s sultry and sexy. And kind of like the moves she makes are sort of like dancer moves. She’s really nice and smiley. They’re a great couple!

And of course, they had to dish about her new fiance, Dax Shepard:

Kristen Bell:I adore him and I love him to pieces! So why not everyone know how cool he is! He does nothing but make me laugh! He’s got an okay body, I guess… no it’s great, it’s fantastic!

I can tickle his funny bone. It makes me feel great when I can actually make him laugh. He has such a great sense of humor that when I do something that makes him laugh I’m like yes!
